Breast augmentation: Preparation and aftercare
Preparation for breast augmentation
The best preparation starts with an extensive consultation, which is free of charge at proaesthetic. During your discussion with the specialist you will receive all important information, including methods of breast augmentation as well as of anaesthesia.
Furthermore you will discuss your aesthetical desire and intention. Therefore you should prepare in advance all your questions concerning the breast augmentation. Your specialist in surgery and plastic surgery should know whether you smoke, do sports, are on any medication or vitamin supplements.
You will discuss all organisational topics during your conversation with the consultant – including costs and financing of your breast augmentation.
What you should do directly before the breast augmentation.
Like any surgery, breast augmentation comprises a part done by the surgeon – and a part which you are responsible for. The latter includes:
- No alcohol, cigarettes and blood-thinning medications for at least three weeks before surgery
- In the days after your breast enlargement it will be advantageous for you to have somebody who can relieve you of some of your duties.
Each person is different - that’s why the healing process may proceed more or less swiftly.
Plan some time for recovery after your breast surgery. It will be ideal for you if someone close to you would accompany you to the clinic, but our staff will also be pleased to assist you.
In the first one to two days you may be tired and feel discomfort in your breast, especially when moving the arms. Some 24 – 48 hours after the operation you will feel quite fit again.
After some days the bandage is removed and the stitches are removed. After the breast augmentation, your breast will be swollen and sensitive to contacts. After six to eight weeks the swelling will have abated so far that you will be able to see the lasting result of your breast enlargement.
Depending on how stressful your profession is, you may resume work after a few days. However, you should avoid heavy physical activities for a few weeks in order to assist the healing process.
Do you have any questions concerning breast enlargement? We will be pleased to advise you.
