Sweat gland removal
Sweat gland removal in hyperhidrosis
Perspiration is a natural and necessary reaction of the body. However, excessive sweating – especially in the armpit area – and the associated problems may become a real burden for those affected. Especially in professional life and in social activities, visible sweat stains often lead to real disadvantages of those affected.
Massive psychische Probleme können die Folge sein. Ein echtes Problem, das man jedoch lösen kann.
The solution: Sweat gland aspiration
In sweat gland aspiration, a modification of the liposuction technique, the sweat glands in the armpit area are selectively and gently extracted. This is how excessive perspiration of the armpits is dealt with – permanently!
In outpatient treatment, it is possible to remove up to 80 % of the sweat glands in the armpits. To this end, a thin layer of tissue under the skin surface with the sweat glands contained therein is aspirated. For the patient, this treatment ideally means that after surgery he or she will be virtually free of complaints and permanently “dry”. Even in the worst case, at least significant reduction of perspiration can be achieved.
After treatment, a pressure dressing – that can be worn under normal clothing – will be applied that must be worn for three days. There may be temporary swelling, effusion and redness in the extraction area, which will abate within no more than two to three weeks. Physical activity should be avoided for about four weeks.
A small intervention to significantly improve your quality of life.
As an alternative to surgical sweat gland aspiration, we offer injection of botulinum toxin A (Botox) into the superficial tissues of the armpits. This method inhibits the discharge of sweat for about six months.
We will be pleased to advise you as to which method is best for you.
